I am also practicing patience on other fronts other than physical. In less than 12 hours, hubby's dad has fallen. Both times because he has difficulty cooperating about using a pee john (or any other convenience).
Last night, he stood up by the bed and peed on the floor. This was two night in a row that he has done that. Both times hubby heard it through the baby monitor. I have to say I am not too happy about this behavior.
About 30 minutes later he stood up and peed on the floor again and then his feet slipped out from under him and things went a flying, to include him. He was not hurt at all that time.
This morning at 5 a.m. hubby and I awoke to a big clatter and went a running to find him again on the floor with pee at his feet and blood oozing from his body in more than one place. The worst of it was his head. Hubby took him to the ER to get stitches put in and have him checked out. They gave him 4 stitches and a CAT Scan.
This bathroom problem with the old guy has been on going now since before the broken hip. (This standing in pee and slipping in it is not something new.) He struggles to use any of the bedside conveniences, and is now no longer calling out for "son" to come help him as often.
We own a hospital bed with rails. After this incident we decided it was needed.
