For the past several years, I have considered opening up the window of our world to friends and family members. I have held off for many reasons, mostly because life has often been overwhelming for me at times as we have attempted to meet the daily demands of our lives. Hubby calls them "hair on fire days", when we get up in the mornings with something planned only to have the day changed because life requires something else.
We are caretakers for three elderly parents. While a blog about care giving and the sandwich generation might be more telling about our daily lives, that was not what I wanted to focus on. Instead, I have wanted to talk about the daily things that make us tired but yet give us great joy in the journey. The struggles of not being able to get it all done.
We are a retired military family, we came to this location, small town America from a much broader world and at times found this life difficult. The struggle between the old and new, the feelings of not belonging to this culture. At times, deeply missing our military roots and struggling to understand civilians. But this is what we feel called to. Obedience to honoring the gray heads and caring for them.
Growing older with them and with each other. So if you have any interest, come along and see what we are doing....
