On Tuesday, I introduced St John’s Wort to his morning pills. It can affect the beta blocker so we are watching that very carefully. But overall the past two days have been the best so far. He has slept less and been more alert to his surroundings.
All along he has been restless but yesterday was the worst. He is never content to sit in a room by himself and he prefers hubby to be with him all of the time. Poor hubby was attempting to listen to a lecture and get an important correspondence about it sent out yesterday. He started in the morning and was unable to finish until after his dad went to bed. If he was working on something hands on, I doubt his dad would be uncomfortable with watching but sitting with a laptop is something different. On another day when he was trying to get something done on his computer, his dad told him to “put that thing away”…LOL, there was a bit of bluster as son obeyed…and I snickered from the sidelines.
He walked at least four times yesterday. Good strong steps but the balance is still a problem. I am continuing to suggest a standing frame be built for him. He needs to retrain those leg muscles to stand all the way up—big and tall, to regain some confidence with his balance. Strengthening those muscles will help with his walking and independence.
Savannah continues the therapy, although she skipped Monday because she was not well that day. He responds well most days to her efforts and smiles and seems to enjoy the attention. I have pictures but I did not get any from the front for fear of making him self-conscious about therapy. She does not call it that, she just walks in and starts playing with him. She does not ask him to do anything she just tells him he can. “You can because you have done it before!”
