After lunch we went to the Amish store and then on out to visit an Amish friend and purchase some plants from her green house. She had a great plant sale going on so I got enough tomatoes to fill in my second row with heirlooms. I still have a few extra cherry tomatoes that will have to be worked in elsewhere. I am all set for tomatoes!!
Yesterday, Hubby pointed out to us that we had a well pump issue. Everything seemed to be okay so he was concerned it was a bigger and more complicated issue… As you can see the well is located in the floor of the garage. You may think that is an odd place but years ago before the garage there used to be a well house that stood in this spot. I had to call the pump man last fall and I mentioned that it was an odd place for a pump. He informed me that it was not uncommon in this part of the world. Anyway, in the long run Hubby’s special touch made everything work as it was supposed to. We are thankful for that.
The first photo is west of the tomatoes, this ground was worked several weeks ago. The second photo is east of the tomatoes, the soil there has not been turned since summer. It is also on the lower ground which is always wetter and has more clay in it. I am hoping to continue to work in more organic matter to make this soil a bit easier to work.
I saw him take a few steps right after lunch. This will be a gradual process at his gaining some strength. The first thing really needs to be having him just stand up, to strengthen the core muscles in his back and legs. He seems to not understand this and insists on taking steps he probably is not ready for.
He seems to not like his Geri Chair. But then it may not be the chair it may be his attention span. If we put him back in the bed, he wants out of the bed. Overall he is doing pretty well. He looks extremely frail but even this is an improvement over three weeks ago.
On a different note, we got a call from the oncologist office setting up an appointment for my dad. Evidently his blood count is down pretty low. The doctor wanted to have him come in for a shot that is supposed to make the cells work better at their job. His blood count has been a concern for us all along. I have given him a mega iron and B vitamin complex formula ever since we found out he had cancer. So far it has helped maintain his blood at a level that is sufficient for a person that is not ambulatory.
And poor Mom has had gout in one of her feet so she has not been getting around very well this week.
That is what is going on here this week.
