One was about what a great weekend we had at the farmers markets even though one was worked in a drizzly rain. The drizzly rain required that the aprons, the little girl dresses, and the doll dresses all had to be brought home and ironed. Now the aprons and the little girl dresses were easy but those doll dresses would be done best on a miniature ironing board with an even more miniature sleeve board. Lady Libby has several cute dresses on her racks you might want to pop on over and read her story and read about her Merry Maids.
We have a lot of rainy weather. Not the type that floods us out but just makes things wet and sticky. That makes doing anything in the garden impossible until it dries out and then there is a small window of opportunity before it turns to brick. So today was a work day.
The second daughter mowed yesterday. The yard was beginning to look like it needed it. Then today she raked up all the grass and worked on her compost. She is has had a bit of difficulty with her compost. First it got too wet and then it got too dry. So today, she added in the fresh grass cutting which were pretty wet to the compost bin. This will be her third attempt at building this batch of compost. She has not gotten frustrated but accepted each set back as part of the learning process. Making compost is fairly easy but there are some essentials…I think by this time she has now learned all three.
I pulled grass and lots of it. Unfortunately, it is at the stage where I have had to hoe it out. And when it is like this I usually collect most of it up and haul it out of the rows. This prevents it from taking root in case it rains again. When I looked back over the garden, it looked like I really hadn’t done all that much but my body says differently. In reality, I got about three and half rows taken care of which is major accomplishment.
Hubby to was extremely helpful. He tilled two rows that were particularly bad and then he put down straw down on one of them.
The oldest daughter had a friend over and taught her how to make fermented veggies and the youngest daughter worked some at cleaning the house.
Nothing spectacular and no photos.
