We had our first good picking of green beans yesterday. We ate some of them and put the rest back for us to eat over the next couple of days. It looks like the beans plants are about ready to explode. They are so late this year but I think I have enough planted that we will be canning more than we will be selling at the market. (or at least that is the plan)
We had some rain earlier this week and I was able to dig some carrots. They were beautiful and the flavor was outstanding. This cool summer has been great for the carrots. I love digging carrots about as much as anything. I hate it when they are so big that the ends break off. But there is something about pulling a big fat carrot out of the ground that brings tremendous satisfaction. I love good carrots and this year the flavor on them is outstanding.
Other things I have done this week….
I transplanted my cabbage seedling into flats. They were a bit small but I got three flats worth and some extras that I left in the original seedling container. They all look to have survived the process. Next week I need to move the cauliflowers into flats.
Looking back over the week, not a lot out of the very ordinary was done. Most of us have not felt the best this week, and overall it was a slow week.
My father-in-law has had some Lewy days, the past couple of days he has been kind of quiet although Hubby says that he was a bit talkative this afternoon after he got up from his nap.
My dad went and had his blood levels checked for anemia—he was at 12 so that is a big improvement. And there was no news from the doctor about his CAT scan so we can assume that all was fine with that.
I will leave the following photo for you to ponder over....
