Dad has had some ups and downs. Today has been a good day for him. He still needs help to transfer from wheelchair to bed. But the past two mornings he has sat himself up in the bed. That was the first big step for him. Today has probably been the best day so far. He is not seeing very well but he has been reading a novel today.
Speaking of not seeing very well, the oldest has an appointment, in August, with an eye doctor who is supposed to be Lyme literate. She is going to go see what he might have to say about her seeing everything in quadruplicate. She has made the decision to stop playing the piano for church because it is such a struggle to see notes. While she did have some improvement with her eyes last year, the past few months it seems she has gotten worse again on that front.
On a totally different note, but with the same member of the family, she saw the orthodontist this week and has begun treatment for the TMJ. Also, the cone scan results came back and the good news is the best news we could hope for-there is no degeneration at this point. Also, the orthodontist is pretty sure that this will get rid of her perpetual headaches.
And since I am updating, I will tell you about how my garden is not going to produce this year. It is not due to my method of gardening but the wet weather. I have seedlings that are still seedling after weeks of standing in water. I am surprised some of this stuff is still even alive and I attribute that to the no till method that I choice to use. The plants around the seedlings are protecting them. We have had several days now without rain but we are predicted over an inch tomorrow with the rest of the week being cool with possible showers.
I did go out and mow and weed some this afternoon. But I am really just about given up on the garden for the season and am planning on a fall garden instead with lots of cabbages and greens. I am thinking about taking those expensive sweet potatoes that I ordered and planting them in a pot in order to get some seed potatoes off of them. We have had wet summers before but never anything like this.
Well, I have been called to supper….
