I checked in on my greenhouse the other day and added some water. So far stuff in there is looking pretty good. I have some very nice kale that needs picking. I am sure that it needs some heavier plastic over it but for now, I am happy with the results. The experiment has done well for this season. It is my desire to have a geo-thermal greenhouse but that would require finances that are not available at this time.
My brother and wife were here for a couple of days. It is always good to see family and it was a special blessing to my parents. I was thinking this morning that when one gets to be their age the importance of knowing that your family cares about you. Having talked recently with many that are in that late octogerian to centenarian age bracket they seem to have a longing for family to be around them--an appreciation for just knowing that they have not been forgotten by those most dear to them. I knew one dear elderly woman that passed away this year. While she was still engaged in her community and church the highlight of her week was that her large family all came home on Thursday night. She was truly a blessed woman and I know that they are missing her this holiday season.
Mid-kid has started back on a particular medicine and has felt the negative effects of it. Despite her not feeling well she successfully finished her first crafted pattern (she has done some doll dresses but this one was for her) and was thrilled to have this new red vest to sing in the choir with. This is the kid that used to scream and holler at the sewing machine that, “I hate to sew!!” This little runt of a kid who used to be totally focused on getting “work done” so she could go play has become a very diverse woman. We hope that she gets to feeling better soon.
The oldest daughter had a stunning good day at the shop on Saturday, so much so that she is under some pressure to get more aprons made to replace the ones she sold—12 in one day takes a big bite out of a small shop inventory that was already beginning to dwindle. So this week has been spent sewing aprons. The Christmas shopping season is about over and she is beginning to think about what to do next to get the shop through the slow season of winter…
