…so first thing on Monday morning Hubby took him to the recommended hospital. We were expecting a surgery. The doctor was able to get the hip back into place but he is skeptical that it will stay. He took him in to the OR so he could fully manipulate it and evaluate the joint. They are going to keep him in the hospital for a few days. The doctor fully expects it to come out of place again. He said that there is just no stability in the joint.
They also discovered that he has aortic stenosis so this puts him at a higher risk for surgery.
Earlier last week, we began to expect that this dear old guy may also have Lewy Body Dementia and they seemed to agree with and are operating on this assumption because there are some pharmaceuticals that LBD’s needs to be kept off of. (I will write more on LBD in another post.)
Hubby says that the hospital that his dad is in is like a five star hotel with a staff of the same kind of attention giving care. The fact that the doctor took this case at 9:15 pm on a Sunday night speaks a bit about him. He seems to be the doctor around that fixes other surgeons basket cases.
Needless to say, the outcome of all of the events of the past few days has been draining. For now, we know he is being cared for by a staff of trained professionals and are thankful for them. Hubby was able to get almost 9 hours of sleep last night. The first time he has gotten a full night’s sleep since sometime in late December.
