Yesterday, did not go as planned! Not at all…. In the afternoon we went into the favored local hardware to get our paint. After some discussion and haggling, they could not meet our needs without ordering paint and that it would not be in until next Thursday. So we went to the other, not so favored, hardware store and they could not meet my needs and it would take two weeks to get the paint. So we went to the local Sherwin Williams store. I had at one time a not so favorable experience at this particular store by the owner’s son who really didn’t care if he sold me a bucket of paint or not…So the choice was to drive out of town to the big box store or once again cross the threshold of this storefront that I had in the past said “never again.” Hubby encouraged me to be forgiving.
It was a good choice, almost instantly we were greeted by a friendly and very helpful sales rep. As soon as he found out that the paint was going into a rental, he told us the perks of signing up as a commercial property, etc. etc. All I really cared about was getting the paint that I wanted but we took the perks along with the paint.
In the midst of trying to get the paint bought Hubby had meetings with the well man. Too long of a story but the well system at the property is being rerouted from another source. In hindsight, I am wondering if this older water source might not have been part of what caused Mid-kid’s immune system to crash. (Yes, I am thinking out loud here, but something made her worse when she was down here in Dec. and while we drank bottled water there was still exposure to this other well via showers.)
And in the midst of all of this, there were people that wanted to come and meet Hubby. It’s been like old home week this week. It is good for him to be able to meet and talk with others. In the process of standing around and talking with others he learned of a place where we can dispose of the carpet. Huge blessing for us because disposing of the carpet was one of those things we had just been discussing earlier in the morning.
While Hubby was doing Hubby stuff, I continued on in the house, still collecting up odds and ends, getting things organized for the next load out or the next load to the thrift store.…I put some more stuff on the trailer, and I took down the curtains. This was one of those final things…I still have a couple of pictures to take down off the wall…and Hubby has some interesting claw hammer work to do to removed three things from the wall…. I started to take down the curtain rods but they are put up there very well (screws in very tight places) and I decided that my patient husband would be better suited for removing them. Tedium of that sort is not my thing.
Because I am now three good whole days behind schedule, #3 has offered to come and help. I have accepted. Everyone needs the experience of painting a house and she has not yet had it. It will be good life experience for her and something I suspect she will enjoy. So if my plans work out for today, I am hoping to be able to report major progress today.
The sun is now up and that means I can see to start painting…
