I was able to get my scanner set up on my desk so now I can work on more scanning in my free time or in the evenings. I’d like to get the boxes of slides done so I can leave them here. The last time we looked at them they had begun to fade and I have known for some time that time was ticking on the quality of these. Fortunately, there are a lot of pictures of cows and that fence that my father-in-law was fond of telling us took 99 gallons of paint. At this point I am not overly interested in too many cow photos and only marginally so of the fence so hopefully the job will not be overly tedious.
Hubby was not well all of yesterday but with a threat of rain, he felt that he had to get the hole in the roof taken care of. So feeling ill (and looking like he felt it) he worked slowly and steadily at the job all day. By evening he looked like he was feeling better although very tired (because he missed a big chunk of sleep the night before).
This morning I woke up at 4:30 and did not manage to go back to sleep…so I am overly tired today and not feeling like I am going to be able to accomplish much. Maybe that 95.5 temperature this morning isn’t helping either. In addition to the lack of sleep, it is cloudy and rainy, which as previously discussed in another post, often leaves me feeling a bit sluggish anyway. So a trip to town for necessary household items such as food, is on the agenda for this morning. We will see what the afternoon brings.
To make the morning even more cheery, the DSL is like pond water…Hubby says he thinks we might be on a party line out here. If you are too young to know about party lines…Eons ago, long before your time, phone lines ran from house to house and everyone had to share the line. Just like several phones in one home. There was no picking up the phone and just dialing. If your neighbor was on it…you waited…or you rudely attempted to dial over them or rudely continued to click the receiver button down…This of course did not make for good neighborly relations. Nor gossiping about your neighbor while they were listening. If you were fortunate, like we were, we didn’t have very many on our line and most were considerate, if they heard someone pick up the receiver they would usually get off.
Oh, and by the way, if you have been reading my blog with any regularity and you remember my mentioning the expense of calling across the county line. I came across an old phone bill the other day. Two phones cost $41 a month and that did not include the long distance fees.
Well, that is the history lesson for the day. Below is one of my favorite group shot photos. They all looked happy and like they enjoyed this particular photo shoot.
