I walked into my parents apartment yesterday and said, “I just went on a trip to someplace else!”
It has been so cold this winter, yet I have enjoyed it. All the snow and cold days have been enjoyable to me. I love to go visit my parents apartment bundled up and walking through the snow. Some days, I just take a hike up the hill and around the barn just for fun. I am even hoping we get that 3 more inches of snow so we can break the record for the month of January—so my girl can say, “I remember that!”
I realized yesterday while we were out on a short road trip getting more firewood, that the reason was partly due to the fact that it has been something different, rather like going someplace different. While snow and cold is not out of the ordinary here, this very Canadian like weather is not the norm. So it has been rather like taking a winter trip to Canada. It has been a time to pull out the heavy coats and the long johns. These are normal things for many people in many parts of the world so instead of grumping about the cold I’ve tried to just make it part of my daily attitude and appreciate the normalness of it.
