Wednesday, the morning started off almost as slow but the day did go much better overall, I was able to go to the grocery and get much needed veggies. (We eat lots of fermented veggies, it helps us save money on much needed expensive probiotics.) I am feeling somewhat better today but still not very perky. I was afraid this would happen (I have seen it time and again with everyone else in the family).
The good news is that Hubby didn’t crash as hard as I thought he would after that much intense labor on Monday! He crashed but not nearly as bad as he has in the past. That is major improvement!
Mid kid has been down again, the new protocol is hitting her pretty hard. I sent her to room to rest yesterday. She was more than agreeable. She is up and feeling much more chipper today.
Yesterday we had frozen fog. I looked up and the sun was shining through it and it looked like fairy dust—little twinkling lights. It was so totally cool! And the way it coated the trees, everything was just beautiful. It looked like a winter wonderland around here. I am sorry I did not go out and brave the cold to get photos, I just wasn’t feeling well enough. Likewise, with the partial melting we had on Monday, everything is slick from the ice and not pleasant for strolling about with a camera.
Today the ice is coming off the roofs in big sheets. That can be a bit disconcerting when one isn’t expecting it. That of course means that the temperatures are coming up and we then have a fine line of having almost too much heat in the house. Wood heat is fabulous when it is cold but it can be a bit touchy getting the mixture right at 30+ degrees. One hates to open the windows but it has been known to be done.
I promised my youngest daughter I would make her a dress to wear to an upcoming event. Normally, I service my own sewing machine but it got to running a bit rough sounding, so I asked Hubby to evaluate whether or not he thought it was the motor or something else. Bless him, he took it apart (not easy) and deep cleaned some of the gears and now it purrs again. I love my sewing machine; it was the last of the inexpensive singers that were made with all metal parts. It has sewn miles and miles of stitches and now hopefully it will give me another 20 years of faithfulness.
BTW, a few months back we were talking to a sewing machine repair person. He told us to never use WD-40 on a sewing machine because it will eventually gum up. I confess, I am guilty of doing this in the past. He also told us that if you own older machines that they need to be used regularly to keep the motors from freezing up. That was good to know because we own a fleet of older machines. Just some free sewing machine advice that I thought I would pass along. And with that I need to go get busy on the promised garment.
