Hubby and the eldest went to the market today, that left time for mid-kid and I do to some weeding…about half way through she decided that she was getting overdone so I ordered her to shower and call it a day. I started out not feeling the strongest today, so I had already decided to not push myself…but I did go out and finish weeding the section I was working on when we came in for a drink and snack (well that was me, Mid-Kid had to take medicine and couldn’t eat for another 40 minutes!)
I really really wanted to plant some seeds but the ground is too wet. The good news is that I am beginning to see the beginnings of little sprouts coming out of the ground. If things would have gone as planned last fall, I would have had more seedling from a greenhouse to plant instead of seeds but that can wait until another year…Yesterday, I finally got some bean seeds planted. I am almost in a panic about not having the garden almost all planted. We are waiting for the thistles to die after the spray (Hubby used the lowest dose for thistles so as to keep from contaminating the soil any more than necessary and sprayed directly onto the plant instead of a broadcasting spray.) They look like they are beginning to slowly give up the battle. I am growing impatient and would just plant right in the middle of them but afraid to disturb the roots any further but that may not matter because I am not sure that the spray will kill that mega root system of these nasty things.
Yesterday, I dug some that had not been sprayed and now have the bigger understanding of what an absolute mess tilling can do with Canadian thistles which are bi-perennial. I imagine in the long run this is going to take good digging skills and two or three years of good spring cover cropping.
On to a different topic. Hubby and the eldest travel to a town about 4 hours from here to see a TMJ specialist. She got all of the x-rays and casting made yesterday. Due to the distance the doctor kind of rolled three appointments into one. Both Hubby and Daughter said they really liked the doctor. Number One is to go back in two weeks for the next phase. It seems we are none too early on getting this problem taken care of. But then I already knew that, her bite shifted horribly while we were in Florida and she began to chew differently. I think in the long run this approach is going to be far superior to the braces that were suggested a few years back. This is supposed to be an overall corrective measure; a total realigning of the jaw and retraining of the facial muscles.
