But backing up a bit, the nurse on Thursday felt that he was improving or at least not getting worse. His blood pressure was back up and he did not sound as bad. The team was to meet that day to discuss him...and in the process they ordered him an antibiotic. And suggested that we put him back on his meds....
Well, after being off of the meds for four day and adding in the high powered antibiotic was more than his body could handle. He is so sensitive to drugs that they knocked him out. Then we found that he had a skin reaction to the antibiotic...
He was out like a light yesterday. We did manage to get a breakfast and a late supper into him. We were very concerned about his fluid intake but by the time I had his supper in him I felt he had had an adequate amount for the day. His ability to drink through a straw has diminshed some but if I spoon the liquid into his mouth a few times he then can usually get the suction going with the straw....sort of like priming the pump.
Today he has woke up enough to eat both a breakfast and a lunch. So it looks like he has made it through another difficult time. In the end, I suspect that we were just dealing with a cold. It might be too soon yet to tell but we should know better by Monday.
We appreciate your prayers and support.
