He said he was going to bed. He started to do the same thing this morning on my duty and I caught him at it. On days when he is more sleepy than others someone has an eye on him at most all times. When he is more alert we roam a bit further.
He has slept a lot the past two days. It might be due to the weather or perhaps he has not rested well in bed at night. The bronchial problem seems to be much improved today—so I think the vaporizer must have really helped. We will keep that running on him in the coming nights to see if we can get that hack cleared all the way up.
One of the funny quirky things I deal with is that he has no sense of time (I know where hubby and one of my daughters got it from). We have not eaten breakfast as a family for years-usually one person after another wandering in to fix their own breakfast. This week I have changed the flow of the pattern. Most mornings, I feed hubby’s dad somewhere between 6:30 and 8, depending on when he gets out of bed. He most often eats and then takes a nap in front of the television. Then he will hear a little rattling going on in the kitchen and decide it is time for him to eat again. So this week I have been making all the breakfasts at one time and then putting them in the oven to keep them warm and folks can wander by and get their plate when they are ready.
This morning was especially funny because hubby wheeled him out and left him with me and went back to bed. Fortunately, he was able to get almost two hours of sleep. But as soon as he showed up his dad began wheeling to the dining room….So instead of trying to explain to him that he had already eaten, I cut my breakfast in half and let him eat with Zeb. (I need to lose weight anyway ;D)
On a slightly different note.
Hubby has put brass plates on the two doors that the transfer chair goes through in order to protect them from damage. I could take the one down between the dining room and kitchen except I really like it there. It allows the back side of the house to be shut off allowing for quietness on either side of the door. Not to mention that I am trying to preserve the antiquity of the home and the door just belongs there.
Also in the shake down of the new arrangements, it has been decided that my big desk will be moved to the kitchen and the old buffet will be moved to the front entrance room in its place. This will give hubby a place to sit his computer and be able to do his bookkeeping, without his having to be too far from his dad. It should also help reduce that pile next to his side of the bed. But before we do that, I am going to push to get the old flooring up and the new flooring down. It is going to be hard to get this project done but if we can, the rest of the work can be done in snippets of time.
