It is suspected that the oral surgeon did damage to her when he removed her wisdom teeth. My daughter always said it felt and sounded like he broke her jaw. She has had a problems ever since. She has a small mouth and he couldn’t get to the tooth so he cranked up his devise and perhaps tore her jaw. Because of the pain she went through at that time, anything dental pain related has her feeling a bit afraid.
While there is a need to get this fixed sooner than later, on the positive side, things do look overall good for at least a 70-80% recovery, perhaps better. She wants to avoid surgery if at all possible. Her dentist said she has had the surgery done and said it isn’t horrible as it sounds but she is recommending that as a last resort. It is nice to know that the dentist herself understands the personal side of TMJ.
Something else we learned from looking at #1’s photos and x-rays, is that there is a Bell Palsy droop on the right side of her face. My daughter says that she has less sensitivity on the right side of her body…When looking at her you would not notice this slight droop but in the photos and x-rays you can see it. Lyme is known for Bell Palsy….
Overall, it was a successful trip. She was a bit disappointed that it was going to after all require braces but is glad that it will probably not require surgery.
