Hubby has had a good week. He seemed a bit do-less yesterday but he did manage some necessary work.
The youngest is feeling a bit better than this time last week...
Mid-kid has struggled for a better part of the week with what she at first thought was a cold but later decided was probably Lyme. She had a sore throat without the rest of the cold....(that is common for Lymies) So she had a few days sequestered in her room trying to not make anyone else sick--just in case.
The eldest daughter has had good and bad days this week.
Both 1 and 2 went off to the blood lab this morning to get tested for Dengue fever. Their Lyme doc says that this keeps showing up in the blood work of Lyme patients....While at first it seems odd and unexplained, the most recent book I have been reading The Fourth Monkey, may shed some light on this mysterious fact. (I have been on a learning curve the past few months that has not always been pleasant.) We look forward to learning whether or not the girls also have Dengue Fever in their antibodies...
My father-in-law has had some good days this week. Yesterday he was alert and awake for some time. When I say alert, I do not mean chatty or totally engaged but at least awake and able to answer simple questions and has a presence among us. Some times as we say, he changes channels and there is little affective communication. Yesterday there was communications. He did have a bad night, he didn't sleep well. Overall, this whole week has been pretty good for him. We are still watching the wound in his arm heal. It has a ways to go but he has been fairly good about not picking the bandage off...or hubby has been good at getting the bandage on so he can't get it off.
Also, we have been fighting what we think is another skin infection on his knee. I have read that oregano will kill MRSA better than some antibiotics. I have some oregano oil concentrate that I made last summer. I had no idea if it would help his knee being topically applied. I had at one time put some on a spot on his back and it showed improvement. Anyway, the knee seems to have greatly improved. The swelling is down and the redness mostly diminished. Frankly, I am surprised and yet wish that I could some how get the oregano oil into him internally. I know the how to, I just don't know how to get it into him. He can't swallow capsules any longer and if I let him chew up one he would hate me forever because it does not take a lot for it to be totally overwhelming.
My Mom is going back to back specialist tomorrow to get an opinion on whether or not anything can be done
